AQUA Relies on Hydraulic Modeling to Assist During Illinois Emergency Outage
The success of this project and the positive impact it had on the Danville community, serves as a testament to AQUA’s dedication to leveraging digital solutions for improved service delivery and emergency response.
Key Highlights:
- Hydraulic Modeling for Real-Time Insights: AQUA utilized OpenFlows Water to create a virtual replica of the entire water system. This real-time modeling environment allowed them to accurately identify impacted areas, make data-driven decisions, and forecast a recovery plan.
- Effective Communication: Bentley was able to work closely with the local Danville operations team. This digital approach enabled them to issue a timely water boil advisory and develop a structured recovery plan.
- Optimized Emergency Response: The hydraulic model helped reduce the number of affected customers from 20,000 to just over 2,000 and accelerated the recovery schedule by a few days. This project set a new standard for emergency response across 1,700 systems.
Benefits of Digitalization:
- Accurate Network Performance: Real-time insights into network performance allowed strategic communication with the community, local authorities, and regulators.
- Enhanced Resiliency: The project demonstrated the importance of resiliency and operational insight, ensuring networks can handle future emergencies effectively.
